this area was definitely a non trophy zone. tons of tags and very little public land. we saw a couple of good bucks however on a two day scout in early august and during our trip. we only saw one buck that would have been 15".We knew it was going to be a low probability hunt so we were happy to just fill tags with the handguns. sometimes you just have to make lemonade.

Congrats on your successes! And, sorry about the issues with land owners. This is becoming increasingly problematic. Many land owners have had problems with hunters trespassing, leaving gates open, cutting fences, ect....so the owners get an attitude. Many fences are not placed on property boundaries.....generally favor of the land owners. And last but certainly not least.....many of the ranches are now owned by out of staters, that are either anti-hunters or lease to outfitters. Either way, they do not want hunters on their properties or even near their properties.....and will use intimidation to keep hunters away! memtb

You made the best of a less than ideal situation. Congratulations on two fine animals.
